Vibrant Fall on black and white film.
Cleaning out files and I came across these Tri-X scans from October. I thought it would be interesting to photograph a vivid Autumn day on black and white film. I remember not really liking them, and I still really don’t, but there’s something incredibly serene about the images to me. Maybe it’s just nostalgia. You can be nostalgic for one month ago, right?

How beautifully leaves grow old. How full of light and color are their last days.

Enjoying what small time remains of this incredible season of contrasts. Bare branches and a leaf-blanketed ground. Grey skies and fire-orange foliage. The scenery is stunning.

I’m not a native New Englander, so I don’t have to hide how absolutely giddy an October snow makes me.

An October weekend in Sleepy Hollow, New York
Two days, a few rolls of film, great friends, and Autumn at every turn.
My husband pointed out, rightly, that you’d never know it was Sleepy Hollow by my images. I guess sometimes the details of a place stick with you more than anything else.
All images shot with an old Canon FTb on Ektar 100.

Late afternoon, early Autumn in the Public Gardens

My sincere thanks to Melissa of Isela Maria Photography for introducing me to the Public Gardens, and for inspiring me with her incredible photographs to capture this strangely calm, quiet space amidst downtown Boston.
